Yurana E. Phillip
Yurana Phillip obtained her law degree from the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus, Barbados, in October 2007, graduating with Honours. She thereafter attended the Hugh Wooding Law School in Trinidad from September 2007 to May 2009.
From June 2008 to August 2008, she preformed her in-service training at the Attorney General’s Chambers in Grenada. During that time, she was responsible for providing researched legal advice to various government ministries, as well as, assisting Crown Counsels with the preparation of court matters, and attending Court hearings in relation to various matters involving the Government.
Ms. Phillip has been an Associate at Afi Ventour & Co. since May 2015.

Ms. Phillip graduated from the Hugh Wooding Law School in September 2009 and shortly thereafter, she was called to the bar of Grenada in October 2009. Further to her entrance into practice in Grenada, she has worked in highly litigious environments, and has represented litigants at the Magistrate’s Courts and at the High Courts.
She has also attended and represented clients at a number of court connected mediation sessions.

During her second year of studies at the Hugh Wooding Law School, she participated in the specialized Criminal Law Clinic, which was facilitated by Ms. Dana Seetahal, Senior Counsel, deceased, formerly of El Dorado Chambers situate at Port of Spain, Trinidad. As a participant in the said clinic, Ms. Phillip was mentored by a senior litigation attorney for a period of three months and received extensive and detailed training in the preparation of court cases inclusive of legal research and writing and advocacy. She was required to draft legal submissions and also to attend various Court hearings whereby she gained firsthand knowledge of effective and useful advocacy skills. The said clinic equipped her with functional skills needed as a ligation attorney.
She also spends a significant amount of time conducting legal research, and as a result, she has produced many legal opinions and submissions in relation to diverse issues and aspects of the law since entering practice.
